Charlie Fox - Surround Sound Interactive Seminar

Charlie Fox
Charlie Fox has been active as a media artist since the mid 70's, exhibiting in Canada and abroad. He has also directed film and video productions for broadcast and educational distribution, created sound recordings for CD release, designed theatrical soundscapes and hosted live programming for radio.
For over twenty-five years, Charlie Fox studied and practiced stereo field recording techniques. Since the mid 90's, audio research has included the development of micing techniques and applications in surround sound. Field recordings utilising surround micing techniques have been made in diverse natural environments (including rainforests, boreal forests, marshes and open prairies) and urban settings.
Recently, Charlie Fox and research associate Wade McGregor (MCSquared Systems Design Group, North Vancouver, Canada) have received approval for a US patent on the Modular Microphone Array, a device that facilitates multichannel surround recording for a variety of applications.
Charlie Fox is an Associate Professor at the Department of Media Production and Studies, University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in film & video production, sound production and audio art.
