DVD-Audio and SuperAudioCD: Next Generation Consumer Audio Carriers
The Compact Disc first appeared on the scene in 1982. In the almost 20 years since then, technology and sound quality have made enormous strides. DVD-Video has had the most successful consumer electronics product launch ever and has brought discrete 5.1 channel audio (albeit with lossy compression) into the home. What about music fans? Is it time to move beyond the 16 bit 44.1 kHz PCM stereo of CD?
There are currently two formats proposed as a high resolution surround sound format to replace the compact disc: DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD.
What does the audio professional need to know about these next generation consumer audio carriers? What is the difference between DVD-Audio and SACD? What does each format have to offer? What do they sound like? What does the consumer think of the two new formats?
These are just some of the questions which will be answered at our annual day-long event this year. We have gathered together a group of experts who have hands-on experience in delivering DVD-A and SACD to market. Don't be left in the dark about the next generation consumer audio format. Join us for an exciting day of learning and listening.
