Designing Sound for the Bard
Come and hear (pun intended) how sound design has come to command as important and prominent a role in classical theatre as it enjoys on Broadway and in Hollywood; hear how these effects are created, and how they are reproduced in the Stratford Festival and Avon Theatres.
Who the Presenter is...
Keith Handegord is currently in his ninth season at Stratford Festival as Sound Designer of Amadeus and a Fitting Confusion.He has been the Resident Sound Designer/Co-ordinator of over 60 Stratford productions from 1988 to 1993, creating soundscapes and providing technical support for original music compositions and live musical productions.
His credits include The Gondoliers, The Boy Friend, Amadeus, Twelfth Night, Othello, Gypsy, Bacchae, Antony and Cleopatra, and King John.Outside of Stratford, Keith has been Co-Sound Designer of Napolean and Sound Designer of The Wizard of Oz(Elgin Theatre), and designed a Broadway production of Timon of Athens for the National Actors Theatre, directed by Michael Langham with music by Stanley Silverman and Duke Ellington. Other credits include Shirley Valentine (The Grand Theatre) Don Messer's Jubilee (Theatre Plus) A Christmas Carol (Canadian Stage Company) and corporate events for Asterix Productions.
