About the Event

Live to Youtube

Mark will be discussing the topic of audio recording, analysis and processing as used in anomalous
investigation, apparent haunted locations and during the filming of television shows covering this topic. There will be a brief introduction to the history of this type of recording, including Thomas Edison’s “Spirit Phone”, Friedrich Jurgenson’s accidental recordings of his late wife and the work of Uppsala University psychologist Konstantin Raudive. This will be followed by Mark’s entry into audio/visual production in 2003, working in a haunted studio and ultimately ending up as a cast member of a BBC TV show documenting Ireland’s most haunted locations. Clips of the TV show will be shown, demonstrating audio recording of anomalous phenomena with details on the technology, methods and processing used for obtaining the evidence shown in each clip.

Mark L. Cowden is an author, producer, anomalous adventurer, and TV personality. An Oklahoma native
of Cherokee and Scots Irish decent, he has always had the belief that there is more to life and death on
Planet Earth than meets the eye. In 2003, Mark took a job as a cameraman for a local television station in Northern Ireland and started working in audio/visual production full time. The TV station was based in an old haunted linen mill in Belfast and it didn’t take long before the paranormal embedded itself into Mark’s work, literally. Mark has now been studying the supernatural in the UK, Ireland and beyond for over 20 years and has featured on projects for the BBC, Discovery Networks UK, UKTV, Italia 1 in Italy and more. He’s the author of “Spirit Voices/The First Live Conversation Between Worlds”, a book which documents Marks audio/visual work while investigating supernatural phenomena in the UK and Ireland. He is also the author of the upcoming book series “Anomalous Planet, Atlas of High Strangeness” and continues to work as a producer, host and VO artist.
