Building the Goal: Navigating the Complexities of Modern Studio Design and Acoustics.

This event will touch on essential topics such as:

  • Big Ideas, Small Spaces: How to implement large-scale concepts and high-end acoustic solutions within smaller studio environments.
  • Balancing Aesthetics and Performance: How to design a studio that looks as good as it sounds.
  • Planning and Goal-Setting: Defining the purpose of the studio—whether for mixing, recording, or both—and ensuring long-term scalability.
  • Acoustic Treatment and Soundproofing: From material selections to achieving the ideal Sound.
  • Budget Realities: Addressing the rising costs in studio builds and how to align dreams with achievable goals.
  • Mechanical Systems: HVAC, electrical, and lighting designs for a high-performance, quiet studios.

  • Managing Expectations: Helping builders navigate the complexities of studio design and realistic budgeting.

Whether you’re a seasoned audio professional, a studio builder, or simply passionate about audio engineering, this meeting will provide valuable insights into how modern studios are conceived, planned, and brought to life. Attendees will gain practical knowledge, from understanding building codes to selecting materials, all while maintaining an eye on future scalability and cutting-edge technology.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from the best in the field and connect with fellow audio engineering professionals.

Quintessence Studio

After 5 years of planning, Anjali B. Arnold is building her goal: a home recording studio. She is the founder and creative force of Quintessence Studio and offers Music creation, production, and teaching, life enhancement guidance and mentorship to youth for creative growth. For 25 years, she composed and produced her own music and sound healing audio NeuroSound out of space carved out in house, and worked when it was quiet enough; finally, the 2-car garage conversion to a dedicated studio for high res recording and DSD production has started on their property in Picton Ontario. She earned advanced honours degrees in physics, mathematics and materials science engineering, so she is no stranger to the challenges of sound when it comes to building a music studio. Anjali and her team are taking a homeowner’s approach to studio building, consulting specialists, making the best of what’s available, and working directly with her builder-contractor to meet goals within an established budget.
